HVAC Installation and Service Done Right

Home heating and air conditioning haven’t changed their basics much since we stopped relying on manually-stoked fireplaces or boilers and hand-held fans. The widespread availability of electricity made automation of furnaces and coolers practical, and electricity continues to be what powers improvements in modern HVAC systems, whether they rely on gas, oil, or the electricity itself for fuel.

HVAC Electrical Devices

The most familiar electrical device on HVAC systems is the thermostat. It’s a 24-volt AC switch that’s powered by a transformer on the furnace or air conditioner that tells it what to do by sending signals back and forth over a four- or five-wire network. These signals light burners, turn on fans and compressors and may control other things like humidifiers or vent baffles.

Of course, those motors, fans, electrostatic filters and compressors also run on electricity, and newer high-efficiency systems incorporate Heat Recovery Ventilators and Energy Recovery Ventilators to recapture energy that would otherwise be wasted.

Importance of Electrical HVAC Component Installation and Servicing

It’s easy, then, to see how problems with your heating and cooling systems are just as likely to be with the electrical components and systems as they are with the units’ mechanical operation. And that’s why it’s important that they be installed and serviced properly.
